More about orthodontics

Only for children and adolescents?

Children aren’t the only ones who can benefit from an orthodontic treatment. In fact, if the alignment of your teeth has been bothering you for many years, why not do something now? It’s never too late!

During an orthodontic consultation, your dentist will give you all the information you need to make a clear decision about your orthodontic treatment. We take the time to evaluate your needs in order to determine the most appropriate approach. You will also have the opportunity to ask us any and all questions you may have about orthodontics.

  • Children

An orthodontic consultation at 7-8 years of age will help us detect any dental or jaw development issues. To determine if orthodontics can help correct your child’s malocclusion, the dentist will conduct a more thorough orthodontic screening. Interceptive orthodontic treatments are early interventions that treat or slow down the progression of a child’s dental problem.

  • Adolescents

As adolescence coincides with the eruption of permanent teeth, orthodontic treatments for teens are different than those for children, since they must take growth spurts and puberty into account. It is during this time that problems like overlapping teeth and misaligned jaws can be corrected by orthodontic appliances (commonly known as braces) within 12-24 months. There are various degrees of malocclusion that can be corrected by treatments that are specially adapted for this purpose. Only an orthodontist can make a precise diagnosis and determine the most appropriate type of treatment.

  • Adults

The alignment of your teeth can be modified at any age. An increasing number of adults are opting for orthodontic treatments to improve the health and appearance of their smiles.
